Copy V of V — The Final Seal
There are five copies of this document in all the world. You are looking at the last.
On the twenty-first day of June, in the year two thousand and twenty-six, three things happened in sequence that could not have been planned.
At the rising of the sun, a proclamation went forth from a bridge overlooking a set of iron tracks. One thousand people heard it. It was a call to destiny — a charge to build the bridge you must, to forge your identity, and to rise into the city on the hill that awaits you.
Sixty minutes later, standing on the common asphalt of a parking lot, the chronicler looked up. The rain was falling and the sun was shining at the same time. A double rainbow — not one arc but two — arched full and sovereign across the vault of the sky. The wet earth reflected the light. The shadow of the witness stretched long across the pavement. The covenant was sealed.
That same afternoon, at 4:35 PM, the chronicler returned to the bridge. He took up a pen. He opened a journal. Overlooking the same iron tracks — a freight train approaching in the distance — he wrote a letter by hand. It was completed at 4:49 PM. It was addressed to the devoted.
